Our Team

Meet the ROAM Team

Naomi

Naomi is a community architect with a passion for facilitating people-led action to make positive change. She was inspired by seeing her own children’s innate desire to experience a form of play she had enjoyed as a child, and yet no longer felt possible. Naomi works part time as ROAM’s Strategic Lead, developing the organisation’s work through new partnerships and networks, and with oversight of business development, income and fundraising, HR and resources.  Naomi runs ROAM Free sessions, and you may also spot her volunteering at ROAM-IN!

Sarah M

Sarah joined the team in Autumn 2022 and will be co-leading ROAM-IN sessions along with working in the background on all things operations, including session planning and looking after our wonderful volunteers. Sarah is mum to 3 kids and a crazy dog! Her background is in event management and marketing and more recently she was involved in running a local community hub. During the pandemic, she was involved in a frontline response helping to run a food parcel service and received the Birmingham Lord Mayor’s Award for her efforts. She’s pleased to be able to continue her work with local communities at ROAM, whilst also having a focus on our strong inclusion ethos – something which she’s incredibly passionate about.

Sarah G

Sarah joined the team in Autumn 2022 and will be primarily co-leading our ROAM-IN Sessions. Sarah has 27 years experience of working within Early Years. A couple of years ago she reached a point where she wanted to invest in her personal development and combine her love for being outdoors with supporting and enhancing children’s development by training as a Forest School Leader. Sarah now works full time as an area outdoor lead for a private nursery group in the UK, supporting settings in embedding an outdoor learning ethos – delivering practical training and bespoke focussed outdoor sessions to children that benefit from being outdoors. She recently completed her ‘Therapeutic skills for outdoor leaders’ training and is currently working through ‘Certificate in Intensive Wellbeing support in the outdoors’ through Therapy Adventure.

Emma

Emma leads our Community Playgroup and ROAM Adventurers. Emma trained as a secondary school teacher specialising in drama and her wonderful music making has been a regular part of our sessions since 2020.  Emma lives in Cotteridge and runs her own early years ‘Music Shakers’ sessions locally. Her love of the outdoors and experience of exploring nature with her own three children and dog make her the perfect leader for ROAM and we were delighted when she agreed to join the ROAM team in September 2022.

Jasmine

Jasmine started as a volunteer helping out at our Outdoor playgroup during 2020, and has since joined the Team as an Assistant Leader at Playgroup and ROAM in Schools, with more to come!

Faye

Faye joined the team in November 2021 to support with systems management and project coordination (amongst other things!) With a background in administration/project coordination and a love of the outdoors, Faye was thrilled to be able to combine the two to contribute to ROAM’s mission!

ROAM are always looking for new volunteers to join our team.
